According to a statement released by his family on his official website, Tom Petty’s death was caused by a ‘variety of medications,’ which led to an overdose.
In the statement, which you can read HERE, Petty’s family mentions that the rocker suffered from ‘serious ailments,’ including emphysema, knee problems, and a fractured hip.
According to the statement, Petty’s fractured hip had graduated to a full-blown broken hip, which contributed to his need for pain medications, including fentanyl patches.
Petty was found unconscious in his home on October 2nd, 2017. He was rushed to the hospital, where he passed away later that evening.
