The 2020 Great Lakes Loons Season Has Officially Been Canceled

Earlier today (6/30), Minor League Baseball announced that the 2020 season would not happen, which means no Great Lakes Loons baseball in Midland this year.

The Loons put on a press release stating that the ‘decision was reached given the restrictions in place by the government regarding social gatherings, the information that is available to the medical community about COVID-19, and the financial ramifications of asking MiLB teams to host games with limited attendance or without fans.’

Unlike Major League Baseball, teams like the Great Lakes Loons generate much of their revenue by having fans in the stands, so playing games at an empty stadium simply wouldn’t make sense.
