Football Legend John Madden Dead at 85

Former NFL head coach and broadcaster John Madden has passed away. He was 85 years old.

According to TMZ, the NFL announced that Madden had died on the morning of Tuesday, December 28th.

Madden was the head coach of the Los Angeles Raiders for ten seasons and led them to a Super Bowl XI victory in 1977. He retired from coaching in 1979 and made the transition into the broadcasting booth.

Of course, if you don’t know Madden from his football credentials, you certainly know him for his namesake video game. The Madden franchise launched in 1988 and is still produced every year.
