Franchy Cordero, Josh Winckowski lead way as Red Sox beat Tigers

Franchy Cordero went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI to lead the offense and Josh Winckowski earned his second win in three starts as the Boston Red Sox beat the Detroit Tigers 5-2 on Monday night.The Red Sox scored single runs in three of the first four innings and added two in the fifth en route to their second straight win and fifth in seven games on the current homestand.Jarren Duran went 2-for-3 and scored twice, while Trevor Story also scored a pair of runs.Winckowski (2-1) pitched 6 2/3 innings of two-run ball and Tanner Houck earned his fifth save of the season for Boston.Javier Baez hit two doubles, and rookie Spencer Torkelson went 2-for-3 with one run scored and one RBI for Detroit, which had 10 hits as a team.The Tigers had won back-to-back games following a six-game losing streak.The Red Sox took a quick first-inning lead as Duran drew a leadoff walk, stole second and scored on J.D. Martinez’s line single to right.Torkelson knocked a sacrifice fly to center field to drive in a game-tying run in the top of the second.
