Report: Akron to name Oregon OC Joe Moorhead as head coach

Oregon offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead is expected to be named head coach at Akron, Yahoo Sports reported.It would represent a homecoming for Moorhead, who was an assistant coach at the Ohio school from 2004-08.Since then, he served as the head coach at Mississippi State (2018-19) and his alma mater, Fordham (2012-15), as well as the offensive coordinator at Penn State (2016-17) and UConn (2009-11).Moorhead, 48, joined the Ducks’ staff in 2020.At Mississippi State, he had a 14-12 record with two bowl appearances, and at Fordham, his Rams were 38-13. He led the team to the Patriot League title in 2014, and Fordham reached the FCS playoffs in each of his final three seasons.
