Yoan Moncada drove in the go-ahead run in the 11th inning and the visiting Chicago White Sox topped the Detroit Tigers 4-3 on Saturday.The White Sox scored twice in the 11th against Gregory Soto (2-9). Elvis Andrus had a bunt single to advance runner Seby Zavala to third. Moncada knocked in Zavala with a single. After a double steal, Andrus scored on Eloy Jimenez’s sacrifice fly.Javier Baez had a two-out RBI single off Aaron Bummer in the bottom of the inning. Bummer then set down Spencer Torkelson on a liner to center to pick up his second save.Liam Hendriks (4-4) was credited with the victory, while AJ Pollock knocked in two runs for the White Sox (75-71).Scheduled starter Johnny Cueto was a late scratch due to a non-COVID related illness. Emergency starter Davis Martin, who was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte, gave up just one run and three hits in six innings.Tigers starter Eduardo Rodriguez gave up two runs and two hits in 6 1/3 innings. Akil Baddoo scored two runs for Detroit (55-90).Following an Andrew Vaughn leadoff single in the second, Rodriguez settled in. He retired the next 16 batters he faced.Martin was nearly as effective keeping the Tigers off the board.
